What is CRS?
CRS stands Commission of Railway Safety. It is a commission under the Ministry Of Civil Aviation, Government of India. The Commission is headed by CCRS i.e Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety.
Role of CRS?
•Technical Advisor to Central Government for Railway Safety.
•Investigates serious Rail accidents.
•Sanction of Major Doubling, Yard remodeling Projects.
•Sanction of Metro Projects.
•Inspection of Railway establishments, suggestions for safety.
CRS HQ and Units
CRS Headquarters is at Lucknow. CCRS at Lucknow is assisted by 9 regional circles CRS ( Commissioner of Railway Safety) at various locations.
Selection of CRS
•Group-A officers completed 25 years and above are selected.
•Once they join as CRS, they are attached to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and can’t return to Railway Ministry.
•Officers of Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, S&T, and operating.
